Have you ever played that Halloween game where you stick your hand into a box and try to guess what is inside? It’s usually pretty gross, like cold spaghetti noodles that feel like worms or peeled grapes that are supposed to be eyeballs. That game is creepy and fun but we think things can get even more exciting and creative in the kitchen with these Halloween party games inspired by Famous Chefs Candace Nelson, Richard Blais and Alex Guarnaschelli.
So put your chef costume on, grab your spatula and get ready for a different kind of Halloween game! Trick or Treat? You’ll have to play to decide.

Game Prep: Pre-bake cupcakes (box mix or make from scratch) and let them cool. Get out your cupcake decorating supplies: colored sprinkles and sugars, candies, food coloring and frosting bags with decorating nozzles.
How to Play: The cupcake decorators get 45 minutes to make frosting from scratch (here is a good icing recipe) and decorate 5 cupcakes with a Halloween theme. After time is up the cupcake decorators describe their Halloween cupcakes to the judges (aka your friends). The judges taste the cupcakes and select a winner based on plating, creativity, taste and use of the Halloween Cupcake theme. Playing Halloween Cupcake Wars is simple using FoodFu. The free cooking competition app will act as your timer, emcee, anonymous score card and you can even share who won through text, Facebook or email.
Halloween Dessert Battle inspired by Richard Blais
The freakishly original desserts on the Halloween Baking Championship are so cool! Host Richard Blais (Top Chef All Stars winner) shouldn’t get to have all the fun, have a battle in your own kitchen. Challenge a friend to see who can bake the creepiest, yummiest Halloween Dessert and have the rest of your friends pick the winner. This is the sweetest Halloween Party Game!

Game Prep: Before game play both home cooks should research what they are going to make. We’ve always found our best recipe inspiration and ideas on Pinterest. Here are a few Halloween Dessert ideas to get you started.
How to Play: Each home cook gets 45 minutes to bake a Halloween inspired dessert (one plate for each judge). Once the time is up both home cooks tell the judges what they’ve made. The judges dig into the desserts and evaluate the dishes based on taste, creativity, plating and how well the home cooks followed the Halloween dessert theme. Halloween Chopped at Home inspired by Alex Guarnaschelli
The Halloween Chopped episodes on the Food Network are the best! We always wonder what kind of crazy ingredients are going to show up in the baskets… cow eyeballs? tongue? or the always shocking BUGS! We always wonder what judge Alex Guarnaschelli is thinking when Ted Allen announces something like congealed pigs blood is in the basket. I know we are saying, “Nooooooooo!!!!!” Well to play Halloween Chopped at home we say no to the super creepy products but say yes to approachable Halloween ingredients.
